New Delhi:The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has granted membership to Mewar University vide letterNo. MEET/MEM/2013/251113 dated Nov. 30, 2013. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) was set up to bring the universities in India on a common platform through sharing information in the field of education, culture, sports and allied areas. The members include traditional universities, open universities, professional universities, Institutes of National Importance and deemed-to-be universities. Besides, there is also a provision of granting of Associate Membership to universities of neighboring countries.
The AIU serves as an Inter-University Organisation, acting as a bureau of information for coordination and mutual consultation amongst universities. The Association also acts as a liaison between the universities and the Government (Central as well as the State Governments) and to co-operate with other universities or bodies (national or international) in matters of common interest
The Association also assists universities in obtaining recognition for their degrees, diplomas and examinations from other universities from India and abroad. It also organizes and facilitates conferences, seminars workshops, lectures and research in higher learning.
The membership will benefit Mewar University not only by way of strengthening its position in the education sector in India but also in terms of forging alliance with foreign universities and institutions.
The Governing council at its 320th Meeting held on November 26, 2013, at New Delhi accorded membership to Mewar University vide letter no. MEET/MEM/2013/251113 dated Nov. 30, 2013by theAssociation of Indian Universities (AIU).
