LABORATORIES

Pharmaceutics:

•  The pharmaceutics lab deals with preparation and dispensing of various drug formulations.
• The facilities available in this lab fulfill the need according to the PCI as well as the requirements of different practicals of pharmaceutics. Some of them are as follows:
• Tablet Punching Machine, Tablet Coating pan, Disintegration & Dissolution Apparatus, Tablet hardness tester (Pfizer and Monsanto) etc. for tablet manufacturing and quality control and quality assurance.
• Ampoule Cleaning, Filling and Sealing Machines.
• Amenities required for ointment preparation like Ointment slab, Filling & Crimping Machines.
• Double cone blender for mixing of bulk dosage form.
• Clarity test and sterility test apparatus for parentrals to examine the foreign particles including Pyrogens.
• Ball mill and Sieve sets are also available in the lab for particle size reduction and size separation.

 Pharmacology

•   This branch of pharmacy deals with the study of route of administration, absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination of given formulations on various animal models using different instruments and softwares which are updated time to time.
•  The instruments that are available in this lab are as follows:
•   Analgesiometer, Actophotometer, Colony Counter, Convulsinometer, Cooks pole climbing apparatus, Double unit organ bath, Haemocytometer with micropipette, Histamine chamber, Perpex bath assembly (Sherrington drum), Plethysmograph, Projection microscope, Refrectrometer, Rota rod and Shali’s haemometer etc.
•   Beside all of the above mentioned instruments, this lab also has a full-flashed animal house for observing the toxicity as well as therapeutic activity on various activities of experimental animals of given formulations.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry

•   The lab deals with the study of various synthetic methods used for the synthesis of various drug molecules as well as their physical and chemical characteristics.
•  The available facilities in this lab are as follows:

1. Fuming hood for carrying out toxic and hazardous reactions.

2. UV Chamber, Melting and Boiling point apparatus, Oil and Water Bath etc.

Pharmaceutical Analysis

 The lab deals with the various analytical techniques such as Titrimetry, Chromatography and Instrumental analytical techniques to examine the prescribed quality of marketed as well as in house prepared formulations in terms of active ingredients as well as impurities.

  The instruments available in this lab are as follows:

1.  UV-VIS Spectrophotometer

2. Digital pH Meter

3. Muffle furnace

4. Karl Fisher Titrimeter

5.  UV Chamber

Pharmacognosy

•   Lab of this branch of pharmacy deals with the Extraction and Identification of pharmaceutically active molecules from plant origin.
•   The available facilities in this lab are as follows:

1. Incinerator, Soxhlet’s and Clevenger’s apparatus, Herbal museum and Column for separation of active phytoconstituents from their crude extract, Rotary evaporator, Vaccum pump and Autoclave etc.
