The Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Computer Applications celebrated Teacher’s Day at the Campus of Mewar University. This day is celebrated in India on September 5th to honour the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great teacher and philosopher. Mewar University follows a tradition of celebrating birth anniversaries of great leaders/saints/patriots/eminent personalities in different fields to inculcate moral values. Continuing with the tradition, Computer Science & Engineering and Computer Applications organized an event to provide an understanding of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's commitment to acknowledging and honouring the significant role teachers play in society.
The function at Mewar University, Gangrar started with a tribute to Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge following with Kulgeet. The guests were welcomed by the Head of Department Mr. B.L.Pal. The function was presided over by Hon’bleVice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Alok Misra, Dean Academics D.K Sharma, Senior Advisor Dr. R. A Gupta, Deputy Registrar Deepti Shastri, Dr. Chitralekha Singh, Professor (Emeritus), Dr. Aruna Dube, Professor & Dean, and Director (Training & Placement and Admissions). Entire engineering faculty members and other departments paid their tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan by being a part of the function.
In the opening remarks, Dr. Chitralekha Singh, Professor (Emeritus) said about persistence and success of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and that the university too shall follow the same. Following the same, some co-circular activities were performed by the students namely poetry, speech on Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Solo dance, group dance, and a play dedicated to the youth.
This celebration was further proceeded by speech of Dr. Aruna Dube, Professor & Dean, Education. She shared her views about Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s dedication to education and his belief in the importance of teachers in shaping the future.
Proceeding to this, a movie on Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was presented to show his contribution towards the education.
The celebration ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. B.L.Pal, Head of Department (Computer Science & Engineering).
