Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day Celebration

Computer Science & Engineering and National Service Scheme (NSS) celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day January 12, 2023                                                                                                                   

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering celebrated Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day at the Campus of Mewar University with the collaboration of National Service Scheme (NSS). This day is celebrated in India on January 12th to honour the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, one of India's most influential spiritual leaders and philosophers. Mewar University follows a tradition of celebrating birth anniversaries of great leaders/saints/patriots/eminent personalities in different fields to inculcate moral values. Continuing with the tradition, Computer Science & Engineering and National Service Scheme (NSS) jointly organized an event to give an insight about Swami Vivekananda, his achievements and his contribution to the field of education and his efforts to empower the youth of India.

The function at Mewar University, Gangrar started with a tribute to Maa Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge following with NSS song. The guests were welcomed by the Head of Department Mr. B.L.Pal and Mr.Shiv Kumar. The function was presided over by Hon’ble Chairperson, Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Hon’bleVice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Alok Misra, Registrar, Dr. Raja Ramasamy, Dean Academics, Dean (Engineering), Deputy Registrar, and Director (Training, Placement & Admissions). Entire engineering faculty members and other departments paid their tribute to Swami Vivekanandaby being a part of the function.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Raja Ramasamy said about persistence and success of Swami Vivekananda and that the university too shall follow the same. Following the same, some co-circular activities were performed by the students namely poetry, speech on Swami Vivekananda, group dance, folk dance, a play dedicated to the youth, and yoga performance.

This celebration was further proceeded by speech of Hon’bleVice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Alok Misra. He shared his views about Swami Vivekananda’s contribution to the field of engineering and technology in India and the works done by him that have inspired and motivated the young and dynamic future engineers getting their training under esteemed institutes like Mewar University.

Proceeding to this, meditation was conducted by Mr. Rakesh Jhanwar and also a movie on Swami Vivekananda was presented to show his contribution towards the nation.

Hon’ble Chairperson, Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, shared his insights on Swami Vivekananda.He motivated the gathering to be like him and focus on Vivekananda’s saying “Service to Mankind is Service to God”. He also shared some of the childhood incidents of Vivekananda his dedication to his guru (Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa).

The celebration ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Kapil Nahar, Deputy Dean (Engineering).
