The Department of Life Science, Mewar University, organized an Invited Expert Lecture under the Value-Added Course on “Agro-Biotechnology: Biofertilizers & Biopesticides” on 6th November 2025. The session was delivered by Dr. Khushboo Jain, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science, Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Udaipur.
A total of 72 students attended the lecture, including 44 registered participants of the Value-Added Course, while the remaining attendees were students from the Department of Life Science.
The program was conducted in two sessions. It commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Prachi Singh, followed by the felicitation of the guest speaker by Dr. Umesh Garu, Head of the Department, Life Science, who presented a memento and shawl. The academic profile of the guest was introduced by Ms. Prachi Singh before the lecture began.
In the first session, Dr. Jain explained the fundamentals of biofertilizers and biopesticides, emphasizing their importance in sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. She elaborated on microbial inoculants, nutrient mobilization mechanisms, and biological pest control strategies.
After a short high-tea break, the second session featured an interactive question-and-answer segment. Students actively engaged in discussions on the production, evaluation, and field application of biofertilizers and biopesticides for improving crop yield and quality. Dr. Jain also shared valuable insights into current research trends and innovations in agro-biotechnology.
Towards the end of the session, Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Vyas, Dean Academics, presented a token of appreciation to the guest speaker in recognition of her valuable contribution. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Ramgopal Dhakar, Coordinator of the Value-Added Course, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, dignitaries, faculty members, and students.
The event was efficiently coordinated with administrative and documentation support from Mr. Pankaj Kumar Teli.
Overall, the lecture proved to be highly informative and enriching. Participants gained practical knowledge on the production, evaluation, and application of biofertilizers and biopesticides, along with exposure to the latest advancements in agro-biotechnology research.
