The Faculty of Legal Studies, Mewar University, organised an insightful guest lecture on October 27, 2025, on the topic “Article 21: The Key of Our Freedom.” The session commenced with a warm welcome and felicitation of the guest speaker by Prof. (Dr) Alok Mishra, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Mewar University. In his opening remarks, Dr. Mishra emphasized the importance of constitutional awareness and the role of academic discourse in strengthening democratic values.
The distinguished speaker for the session was Mr. Dalip Dixit, Senior Legal Officer, Government of Rajasthan, delivered an engaging and thought-provoking address on the constitutional significance of Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. The lecture aimed to deepen the understanding of students and faculty members regarding the evolving interpretation of the right to life and personal liberty, which forms the cornerstone of human rights jurisprudence in India.
Mr. Dixit, in his lecture, elaborated on the journey of Article 21 from its narrow interpretation in the early constitutional era to its expansive scope through various landmark. He highlighted how judicial creativity transformed Article 21 into a repository of multiple human rights, encompassing the right to privacy, health, environment, and education.
The lecture was attended by distinguished faculty members including Mrs. Geetanjali Sharma, Head of the Department, Faculty of Legal Studies; Mr. Eshan Singhal, Mr. Ambuj Mishra, Mr. Pradyumn Sharma, Dr. Sadhana Mandloi, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management; Dr. Rajesh Bhatt, Head of the Department, Commerce and Management; and Ms. Madhuri Bhatt. The session concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Nitin Tripathi, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Studies, who expressed gratitude to the speaker and attendees for making the event a resounding success. The lecture proved to be an enriching experience, inspiring students to explore the deeper dimensions of constitutional freedoms.
