International Webinar Series on Biological and Health Science (Lecture 1.0)

The Department of Life Science, Under Faculty of Science & Technology, Mewar University, successfully organized the first lecture of the International Webinar Series on Biological and Health Scienceon 8th September 2025. The webinar, conducted in hybrid mode (both online and offline), focused on the critical and globally relevant topic “Understanding Obesity: From Causes to Cure.”

This academic initiative aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the biological, nutritional, and clinical aspects of obesity—one of the most pressing public health challenges worldwide. The event was organized under the academic excellence framework of Mewar University, which holds a NAAC Grade ‘A’ Accreditation, reflecting its commitment to quality education and research.

Speaker Profile

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Mohamed Hasan, a Clinical Nutritionist from Cairo, Egypt. Dr. Hasan is an esteemed expert in the field of nutrition and health sciences, known for his research and clinical expertise in metabolic disorders, obesity management, and nutritional therapy. His participation added international value and interdisciplinary perspective to the event.

Lecture Highlights

Dr. Hasan’s talk, titled “Understanding Obesity: From Causes to Cure,” explored the multifactorial nature of obesity. He discussed:

    • Lifestyle influences including diet, physical inactivity, and stress.
    • Environmental and socio-economic determinants affecting food behaviour.

    • Clinical treatments, medical supervision, and preventive strategies.

Dr. Hasan also emphasized the importance of public awareness and policy-level interventions to control the growing epidemic of obesity, especially among the youth.
