Legal Awareness Program organised on September 10, 2025

The Faculty of Legal Studies, Mewar University, organized a Legal Awareness Program on 10/09/2025 at Government Senior Secondary School, Ajoliya Ka Khera, Gangrar, Chittorgarh, with the objective of sensitizing students and the school teachers about important legal issues. The program focused on spreading awareness regarding the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, which plays a vital role in safeguarding the rights and dignity of children.

The event began with a warm welcome by the Principal of School, after which the faculty members of Mewar University highlighted the purpose of the program and the need for legal literacy among young students. A major attraction of the program was the performance of a ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street play) by the law students of Mewar University. The play was based on the POCSO Act, 2012, and depicted various issues of child abuse, preventive measures, and the legal protections available under the law. Presented in a simple, creative, and engaging manner, the performance succeeded in capturing the attention of both the students and the school teachers, making the message clear and impactful.

Following the performance, an interactive session was conducted in which school students raised questions regarding child safety, reporting mechanisms, and the role of parents and teachers in protecting children. Faculty members addressed these queries with practical explanations and encouraged students to remain aware of their rights. The program concluded with a special address to school students by Mr. Eshan Singhal (Asst. Prof.) and vote of thanks delivered by the Mr. Nitin Tripathi (Asst. Prof.), all the teachers of school appreciated the efforts of Mewar University in conducting such meaningful awareness drives.

Overall, the Legal Awareness Program proved to be highly effective in spreading knowledge about the POCSO Act, 2012, and emphasizing the collective responsibility of society in ensuring child safety. By adopting an innovative approach through the Nukkad Natak, the students of Mewar University were able to create a lasting impression on the young minds and the community members present, thereby contributing towards building a more legally aware and responsible society.

The whole program was organised under the supervision of Mrs. Geetanjali Sharma, HoD, Faculty of Legal Studies and coordinated by Mr. Nitin Tripathi and Mr. Eshan Singhal.
