Department of Mining

About the department:-

The Department of mining has  been  carrying  out Geological  explorations  for  identifying  the occurrences  of  various  mineral  deposits in the Chittorgarh region.

Mining Engineering involves the practice, the theory, the science, the technology and the  application of extracting and processing of minerals directly from the environment. Mineral extraction is essential to modern society.

Mewar University  started the Mining Department in 2014  with  a strength of  15  students in Second  year  Diploma III  Semester and two  faculty members. As this is the starting batch  labs establishment is in process.As for now, the department is running Diploma courses only, and in the coming years we will be having B.Tech courses in Mining too.Mining  is widely done in Rajasthan which is the  most famous  state for the varieties of mineral deposits which comes through Mining. Since the beginning the department of Mines and Geology made continous efforts to explore mineral resources of the Chittorgarh district which resulted into proving of cement grade limestone deposits which have helped in establishing cement plants.Mining helps create a wealth. It therefore helps create a flourishing middle class and so leads to democracy.
