ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Life Science at Mewar University is under the Faculty of Science & Technology. The department offers Ph.D., M.Sc and B.Sc programmes in Life Science.
Life sciences are the study of the composition, structure and function of living forms and their interaction with the environment. The scope of life sciences is wide and is one of the most promising areas of research. Life sciences enhance our understanding of the nature of life and provide new insights into diverse areas in biology such as disease pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention and cure. The acquired knowledge in Life sciences also helps us to combat various environmental issues, find out ways of sustainable management, and biodiversity conservation, to name a few.
The department is well-equipped with laboratories, which have high-quality equipment for teaching and research purposes. The laboratories are managed by well-trained and experienced lab technicians who assist students and faculty members in their experiments and research.
The department has a team of highly qualified and experienced teachers who are committed to providing quality education to the students. The faculty members are actively involved in research and have published several papers in reputed journals.
The Department of Life Science will be a leader in acquiring fundamental knowledge of the living world that will advance the health of the planet, including humans. We will fully integrate instruction and research so that all students not only learn but also, through their learning, actively contribute to our understanding of life.
MISSION
To provide a broad-based knowledge of concepts and principles of life sciences with specializations in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany, and Environmental Sciences. The mission of the department is to train competent professional microbiologists, zoologists, botanists, and biochemists with the scientific knowledge, skills and values required to address the need for high-level manpower across the nation. To produce trained students with creative, innovative and inventive research aptitude by providing hands-on training on life sciences techniques.
