Chemical Engineering at Mewar University is a mix of traditional Chemical Engineering as well as the upcoming areas of Chemical Engineering such as Environmental science engineering and Cement-ceramic Engineering. The students undergo an extensive course work and intensive laboratory practice in all the conventional and advanced areas of Chemical Engineering. The department has good number of faculty members with considerable amount of teaching, industrial and research experiences. Most of the courses are designed in such a manner that there are ample scopes for students to think beyond the class room teaching and learn innovative techniques to solve real life problems. In addition, students are involved in significant number of industry projects where they get a chance to solve problems from industry and interact with their prospective employers.
Career Prospects
Chemical Engineering at Mewar University is unique in the engineering profession. It requires a strong foundation in chemical principles as well as in the physical and engineering sciences which is common to all branches of engineering. An education in chemical engineering helps students in getting employment in all phases of technical operations. Chemical process industries supply society with a vast array of products, including chemicals, fuels, plastics, metals, foods, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and cryogenic materials. In recent years, chemical engineers have found employment in the microelectronics industry as well as other streams of engineering such as materials, biochemical and biomedical engineering. Chemical engineers also serve the society by reducing and eliminating pollution.
Eligibility
For the admission in B.Tech Chemical engineering one just requires the basic understanding of class 12th level of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics only. Chemical engineers in India are recruited in many sectors, such as Petroleum and Petrochemicals, Cement, Paper, Fertilizers, Rubber, Pharmaceuticals, Biochemical, Plastics, Textiles, Cryogenic & Advanced material sciences like Organic and inorganic process industries etc.
Internship and Summer Training
Chemical Engineering students get a chance to interact with local chemical companies and get connected through summer trainingand regular plant visits to industries such asFFDC Kannauj,Birla Cement, Hindustan Zinc, etc. Similarly, many students undergo for 6 monthsinternships at various reputed industries like IOCL, Birla Cement, Lafarz Cement, Monomax and J K cement.
The current strength of the department is 5 faculty members from IITs and central universities.
