National Seminar on recent Multi-disciplinary Trends in Chemical Sciences Organized by Faculty of Science and Technology, Mewar University

 

Faculty of Science and Technology,Mewar University,Gangrar,Chittorgarh organised a National Seminar on “Recent Multi-disciplinary Trends in Chemical Sciences”on 24th August, 2018 at Maharana Pratap Seminar Hall, Mewar University, Gangrar, Chittorgarh.

Near about three hundred students from nearby institutions like Snagam University,Bhilwara,MLV Govt. College,Bhilwara,SDM Girls College,Bhilwara,PSB Govt. College,Shahapura,SMM Gilrls College,Bhilwara and JNR Rajasthan Vidyapeeth,Udaipur particpatated in the seminar.The seminar was also attended by senior academicians and faculty members of different institutions.

The event started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignataries present.This was followed by a welcome address by the President of the Mewar University- Prof.V.K.Vaidya. He welcomed all the particpants to the seminar and thanked the studenst for coming in such large numbes.He expressed the hope that the students would be immensly benefitted by the proceedings of the seminar.Dr.B.K.Sarma, Head of the Department of Chemistry and Convener of the seminar, gave a glimpse of the Mewar University.He spoke abourt the unique features of the University and highlighted about the commitment of the University for quality and inclusive higher education under the visionary leadership of the Chairman of the University- Dr.Ashok Kumar Gadiya.

The technical session started with talk of Prof.K.R.Desai, retired Head of the Department of Chemsitry,Veer Namad South Gujarat University and, presently,Senior Technical Advisor,Uka Tarasdia University,Bardoli,Surat.He spoke on Green Chemsitry and its importance in the present times.He highlighted the case of the environmental problems faced by the industrial city of Surat, and stressed on the need of reserarch for the clean and green technology in order to stop the serious environmental degradation all over the world.

Prof.S.C Rakshit,former Head of the Department of Chemsitry,MLSU Udaipur and presently, Dean,Science and Technology,PAHER University,Udaipur gave a talk on the role of Advanced Oxidation Process in Green Synthesis.He enlightned the audience present on recent developments in this field and also gave a glimpse of the findings in his labortory by the research scholars of his group.

Prof.V.K.Vaidya talked on “Green Chemsitry-green life.”His application of innovative and hithertho unthinkable ideas from science,chemistry in particular, for leading a positive and meaningful life inspired the audienec a lot.He elaborated on how the concepts of scinece and techniology,if applied in life, may lead a to change in life-styles for satisfactory anf fullfilling life, which he called the “Green Life”.

The technical sessions were conducted bt Dr.B.V.Kabra,Head of the Department of Chemistry,MLV Govt College,Bhilwara.The seminar ended with vote of thanks which was proposed by Dr..Gulzar Ahmed,Head of the department of Physics and Co-convener of the seminar.The seminar was ably anchored by Ms.Kalpana Timung and Mr.Pema Wangchuk-both students of Mewar University.
