World Environment Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm by Mewar University on Monday 5th June. H’ble President, Prof. V.N.R. Pillai; Pro-President, Prof. T.N. Mathur, OSD, Mr. H. Widhani, Dr. R. K. Paliwal, Prof. R.C. Tiwari, Dean Engineering, HOD’s, Faculties and other staff were present in the event. . The theme resolute for the World Environment Day 2017 was ‘’Connecting people to nature’’.
On this occasion experts delivered meaningful lectures on the value of the environment. Presentations were given by Mr. Rakesh Jhanwar, Dr. S.P. Mathur Mr. Shailesh Kansal, Miss Nalini Tomar and Mr. Mohd. Ashid about various environmental issues. In their presentations small verdicts were given regarding connecting people to nature and living with nature. They also suggested that government should take steps to improve the quality of environment. Prof. R.K. Paliwal also gave his speech on challenging nature and traditions of society. Honorable President (Mewar University) Prof. V.N.R. Pillai motivated and encouraged the staff by his inspirational speech. He talked about sustainable development and gave information about how to promote the importance of living with nature. All staff took oath to plant more trees and to protect our environment. The programme was followed by a tree plantation ceremony at 4 p.m. under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) R.C. Tiwari in Mewar University Campus. This programme was coordinated by Dr.Sonia Singla from Dept. of Economics.
