Blood Donation & Eye Testing Camp
Wednesday, March 1, 2017 became one of the most prolific day in the small but significant past of Mewar University. Every year on this day in the loving memory of Late Shri Nand Lal Ji Gadiya - father of Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chairperson, Mewar University, a Mega Blood Donation Camp is organized within the campus of Mewar University. Such has been the affect of these Mega Blood Donation Camps organized consistently from last five years that it has now almost taken a form of culture and is no more recognized as merely an event. Though, this Year University extended its social service efforts further, by opening its door with open arms to people living in and around the campus through the organization of an Eye Testing Camp.
The fervor of these two parallel events was elevated further with the gracious presence of Shri Indresh Kumar Ji, Member National Executive, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Chief Patron of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM). Students of Mewar University received Shri Indresh Kumar Ji vehemently by giving him a guard of honour from University main gate to Chairperson’s office and from there to the Maharana Pratap seminar hall of the University. Other noted esteemed guests of the event who grace the occasion includes Guest of Honour, Shri Narendra Mishra Ji, a very well known poet from Mewar region of Rajasthan; Dr. Imran Choudhury, Rashtrapati Awardee and National Co-Convenor, MRM; Adv. Khursheed Rajaka, National Convenor, MRM (Student & Youth Wing); Mohammad Faiz Khan, National Convenor, MRM and Mr. Altaf Lone (A Law Gradutae Student from Mewar University). The event unleashed with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, wherein all the honourable guests of the occasion paid tribute to the Goddess Saraswati followed by Saraswati Vandana and Kulgeet of Mewar University under the guidance of Mr. Gopal and his team comprising of girls pursuing B.Ed. Thereafter, the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour of the event were felicitated by Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chairperson of the University. Other noted guests of the event were also felicitated by Prof. (Dr.) V. N. Rajshekharan Pillai, President, Mewar University and Shri Govind Lal Ji Gadiya, Secretary, Mewar Education Society.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya in his welcome address explained the objective of the University which aims at ‘Reaching to Unreached’ with concrete examples. He stressed on how the University takes pride in having students from almost all the states of India and with majority of them coming from poor family. He also highlighted the case of students not receiving their due scholarship through Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme for the students of Jammu & Kashmir and yet not charged a single penny by the University administration in his brief address. Dr. Imran Choudhury and Advocate Khursheed Rajaka introduced the objective and work of MRM to the audience comprising of more than 400 students from Jammu & Kashmir. Adv. Khursheed Rajaka enthralled the audience with his poem which was very well received by the audience. Next was the turn of the most coveted Poet of all time Shri Narendra Mishra Ji. He started with explaining to the audience the difference between stimulation and motivation. At 80, his poetry recitation which covered the historic episode of Rani Karnawati & Humayun was full of valour with a message towards Hindu-Muslim integration which completely mesmerized the audience. People stood and paid respect to him with extreme gratitude after the recitation of his poetry.
Shri Indresh Kumar paid his token of gratitude to the mother of Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya before starting with his speech. He successfully attempted to raise the happiness bar of the audience by involving them in four different kinds of sit-and-play games. He later highlighted to the student gathering on the various small, useful and effective way to study. In the final stage of his speech he emphasized on how the Gods, Heaven & Hell of every religion is one and same with a mere difference in nomenclature. Subsequently, two final year engineering students of Mewar University Mr. Owais Malik & Ms. Lubana gave an account of their experience of staying and studying at Mewar University. Immediately after the observation account of these students, Shri Indresh Kumar Ji along with other esteemed guest and the higher authorities of the University inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp.
Inauguration of the camp was followed by two cultural programs which included a Hindi song performance by two students of Nagaland, T. Aman & Olito (B.Sc. – Agriculture) and cultural dance performance by the group of eight female third year students from Jammu. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by the President of Mewar University, Prof. (Dr.) V. N. Rajshekharan Pillai. The program was anchored by Mr. Mohammad Salman & Ms. Sonia Bhagat, third engineering students from Department of Computer Science.
While the program concluded here, the Blood Donation continued till five in the evening. A total of 314 units of bloods was donated at the camp. Paralleling the Blood Donation Camp, even Eye Testing Camp ended up checking eyes of more than 600 people. The program actually concluded in the evening by the felicitation of all the Doctors and the Staffs who worked tirelessly and affectionately for the entire day.
