The 69th Independence Day of India was celebrated with traditional pomp and ceremony. The Independence Day celebration started with unfurling of the national tricolor by Dr. Ashok Kumar Gadiya, Chairperson, Mewar Group of Institutes, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem.

Subsequently, the cultural program started with the recital of nationalistic poems and songs interspersed with speeches by students and faculty, which filled the atmosphere with a nationalistic fervor.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gadiya said that the Republic Day is the day to renew our pledge to the nation. Dr Gadiya observed that our nation has made giant strides of progress, and we have come a long way from where we were six decades ago. The progress has touched nearly all sections of the society.

Dr. Gadiya, however, cautioned that India cannot prosper in the true sense until soldiers, farmers and labourers get their due position in our society. Dr. Gadiya stated that we still have miles to go. He stressed the need to remove the social inequalities that continue to exist in our society, which is out of sync with modern times.

The chairperson urged the teachers to motivate students and to inculcate a sense of nationalism in them because only then the society can make progress in the true sense and be free of corruption. Otherwise, no amount of legal reforms can bring an end to corruption.  He emphasized that only motivated teachers can bring about a change in the attitude of the future generation.
