Ambedkar Jayanti celebrated at MU

The Department of Civil Engineering, Mewar University, celebrated Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti with great pride and pleasure on April 13, 2015. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar (14 April 1891 – 06 December 1956) popularly known as Babasaheb, was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer, who inspired the modern Budhist movement and campaigned against social discrimination of Dalit’s, Women and labour. He was independent India’s first law minister and the principal architect of the contribution of India.

Mr. Abhijeet Kishore, Head of Civil Engineering Department welcomed the guests and dignitaries. The celebration started with the lighting of lamp by all dignitaries. This was followed by Dean (Basic Sciences) Dr. R. K. Paliwal’s speech. The speech focused on the contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar to the Indian constitution and movement against caste creed discrimination. The celebration included cultural performances by B.Tech and Diploma students. Dular Chand and Gajender Meena dedicated their singing performances to Dr. Ambedkar. Manoj and Group performed a group dance whereas B.Tech students displayed a skit (play) carrying the theme of untouchability.

Vote of thanks was given by Shri H. Widhani, O.S.D. Mewar University.  The celebrations ended with the singing of national anthem.
